The IC-7610 arrived in 2017 and took the RF direct sampling design Icom introduced with the IC-7300 into a full-size base station. Icom built it around two independent receivers, each with its own DIGI-SEL preselector, band-pass filters and analog-to-digital converter, and quotes 110 dB RMDR for both. That's the point of the radio. You can listen to a DX station on one band and watch another, with two spectrum scopes on a 7-inch, 800 by 480 touch screen. It also has two antenna connectors, a transverter port, a LAN port for remote control, a 10 MHz reference input and an I/Q output for PC software. Power out is the same 100 W as the IC-7300, on 160 m to 6 m, but it's twice the weight at 8.5 kg. A later firmware update added digital pre-distortion, which Icom says corrects distortion in the final amplifier stage.

Power, receive, finals and supply
Transmit power
Icom rates it at 1 to 100 W on SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK and FM, and up to 25 W on AM. Ask for a wattmeter reading into a dummy load on several bands from 80 m to 6 m, on both antenna connectors. Full power on every band is the proof you want.
Receiver
Both receivers cover 30 kHz to 60 MHz, and Icom quotes SSB sensitivity of 0.16 µV on HF with preamp 1 on. Ask for a video of dual watch with the two scopes showing signals on two different bands. If one receiver or one band stays quiet while the other shows signals, that path has a fault.
Finals
Icom doesn't name the final transistors in its user manuals, and we couldn't find a service manual. The meter shows the final's drain voltage (Vd) and drain current (Id), so ask for a photo of the Id reading at full power into a dummy load.
Power supply
It needs 13.8 V DC ±15% at up to 23 A on transmit, and it draws 3 to 3.5 A just receiving. Icom's PS-126 (13.8 V, 25 A) is the matching supply. There's no AC supply inside.
Dial and display
The 7-inch, 800 by 480 touch screen shows both scopes, the meters and decoded RTTY and PSK text. Ask for a photo of it powered on and a short video of the main dial and touch control. Icom says the clock loses time until the backup battery has charged with the supply on for a week.
Filters and options
Filtering is digital and the tuner is built in, so there's nothing to add inside. The firmware version matters more: the I/Q output for PC software needs version 1.20 or later, and digital pre-distortion came in a later update. Ask for a photo of the version screen.
Should come with it
HM-219 hand microphone (supplied)
DC power cable (supplied)
Icom PS-126 13.8 V, 25 A supply (optional)
RC-28 remote encoder for RS-BA1 remote use (optional)
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
A 2018 Icom technical bulletin says that in rare cases the heat sinks on the RF analog-to-digital converters (IC8200 and IC8700) on the main board can come slightly loose. Ask the seller whether that bulletin applied to this radio and whether it has ever been to Icom service.
01Power out: Ask for a wattmeter reading into a dummy load on 80 m, 20 m, 10 m and 6 m. Each band should reach close to 100 W.
02Both receivers: Ask for a video of dual watch with signals on two different bands. Both scopes should show signals and band noise.
03Finals: Ask for a photo of the Id meter while it transmits full power. A steady reading at 100 W is what you want.
04Screen and dial: Ask for a video of the 7-inch screen and main dial in use. Touch should respond where you tap, and the dial should tune smoothly.
05Firmware: Ask for a photo of the version screen in the menu. Version 1.20 or later is needed for the I/Q output.
06Power supply: Ask which supply the seller used. It needs 13.8 V DC at 23 A or more, and Icom's PS-126 is the matching unit.
07Mic and manual: Look for the HM-219 hand mic and the DC power cable in the photos. Icom posts the manuals online.
08Mods: A title saying MARS, CAP or wideband means it's been changed to transmit outside the ham bands, which is only for authorized MARS/CAP stations. Ask what was changed.
09Model number: Check the front panel reads IC-7610 and ask which country version it is. Transmit coverage differs by version.
Only one IC-7610 is for sale on eBay US right now, so $3,117 delivered isn't a market read. It's hamandhifi's, titled excellent with its boxes, and the photo shows it powered on with its cables on top of the box. It isn't titled tested, so ask for a wattmeter reading into a dummy load on 80 m, 20 m, 10 m and 6 m on both antenna connectors and a video of dual watch with both scopes showing signals. Budget for a 13.8 V supply rated 23 A or more, like Icom's PS-126, and ask for the firmware version, since the I/Q output needs 1.20 or later.
